Please be aware that these are the tools that I either personally use in parts of my business today, have in the past, or that I can honestly endorse by being in the Internet Marketing / Web Development space for almost two decades.
Although not complete, I will be updating this over time but I have included the main basic necessities of any online business.
The items listed here are not WordPress specific. Though some items are. I will be providing more of the WordPress specfic recommendations throughout the training and in the relevant locations with a video review and/or set-up related training and information.
In all categories of the tools listed, I have attempted to offer both free and paid alternatives, with my own commentary and personal review. I hope this will help guide you in your choices and help save you some time and unnecessary headaches.
In some cases, it has taken me a lot of trial and error to find the tools that worked right for me. My criteria is always the same. Does it serve a necessary function in my business that I actually need, and does it really help me rather than hinder me.
These software’s or tools are not going away. They are all reputable and here to stay. But only get what you need and what you can afford today… or you really need it. Not any sooner. Remember that sometimes paid services make sense. Sometimes they do not. So be careful not to compromise your business out of scarcity. But in some cases… free is just as good as paid or even better.
Finally, there are affiliate links embedded throughout this resource list. Full disclosure. So if you click on some of the links below, if you buy, I may get a commission for the sale. So if that is the case, I appreciate the referral.
If you have any questions, or want any recommendations, please let me know.
Books and Additional Training
24 Hour Success: The Art of Making Money Online (Video Training Course) – In-depth course on all aspects of online marketing with over 24 hours of video training content. This is the course that helped me get to where I am now and if you did not purchase this offer when registering for this site, I urge you to do so. This course, in combination with all that I am delivering to you is truly all you need to succeed online… unless you feel you need direct hands on mentoring or coaching. Seriously. You have no need to go elsewhere for anything.
The Millionaire Messenger by Brendan Burchard (Book or Audio) – This is a great book with exercises and tools, etc. for positioning yourself as an expert in your industry and discovering what that is for you. It is an easy read and Brendan mixes inspiration with a lot of great information about how to make you’re your business.
108 Proven Split Test Winners by DotComSecretLabs (Book) – Pay for only shipping on this one. This is the resource book to see all the subtleties in what makes sales pages and offers convert. 108 case studies that have some absolutely shocking, crazy, and enlightening results. This book really teaches you a lot about the psychology of marketing and how minor changes to you pages or wording can have drastic effects. A must have if you are selling any product or service and want to understand the need for testing everything you do.
Running and Hosting Webinars
WebinarJam STUDIO: Uses Google Hangouts. It is a service that offers e-mail notifications, registration management, and other great tools that seamlessly integrate into Google Hangouts, which on its own does not offer any form of webinar registration and replay management.
I am currently actively researching and testing other options. The main disadvantage with anything Google Hangouts-based (or Google Live) is that there is a delay with the broadcast. This is not a problem unless you want to use the live chat function for interactivity. The delays make it difficult to ask questions during a live webinar as you have to wait in some cases up to 30 seconds before your audience will respond. So you have to improvise if possible. Just to be clear, this issue does not affect live video or voice chat. Webinars that are less interactive are also less effective.
Keyword Research Tools
Keyword research is the key to everything. You can do it for free, but you do need to be proficient with understanding how to analyze competition, decide which keywords are worth targeting, and to find the right long tail buyer keywords worth trying to rank for. But it is not difficult either.
Using software can obviously help you find keywords faster, and sometimes even better keywords, with obvious time saving. But, some of the free options are pretty darn good as well. The paid options offered below are the best I have found but each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Which is best for you depends on what you find easier to use.
The bottom line is, test each one out and see what works for you. They all come with limited free trials or money back guarantees… so see which one feels best for you.
Uber Search (FREE) – Probably the best free tool for getting keywords from Googles suggested searches.
Keyword Tool (FREE) – Also a good free tool to get Google suggest keyword.
Keyword Shitter (FREE) – This tool does what it says. It poops out a lot of keywords. Have no idea where it pulls them from but you can get hundreds very quickly.
Power Suggest Pro – The best Google Suggest keyword extraction tool. It is fast, allows for many options and also searches Bing, Yahoo, YouTube, Amazon and eBay. It also helps you organize your keywords, create buyer keywords, and many other keywords.
Jaaxy – Comes with the highest recommendations. It gives amazing metrics and helps identify keywords that you can rank for using a color-coded system. It comes with a limited 30 search trial and has a monthly fee. This tool also give competition analysis and monthly search volume which none of the above do.
Google Keyword Planner (FREE) – At the end of the day, you cannot live without Googles keyword tool. With the exclusion of Jaxxy, all the other tools require you to still use this tool for getting approximate monthly search volumes. Although it is designed for PPC (Pay-Per-Click) advertising and therefore limited in finding and issuing statistics for PPC related keywords, no necessarily exact search terms, it is an invaluable tool.
Complete Business Systems
The recommendations below are really the only options that I know of. These are entire business systems that include complete sales and customer relationship management. They have e-mail marketing, landing page builders, sales tracking, and behavioral marketing, affiliate management tools, etc.
While they are costly, and require a lot of set-up, these systems are invaluable and can eliminate the need for a lot of other software’s… but these are only required if you are already running a successful business online or you are at the point where this makes sense for your business.
OntraPort – Use to be Office Autopilot, much easier to use then InfusionSoft and is more affordable. Great for smaller businesses that are not ready to jump to its more sophisticated counterpart.
InfusionSoft – Just cannot be beat. Quite expensive and has a learning curve, but if you get it up and running your whole business can be managed by one intensive system.
Auto-Responder E-mail Marketing Services
SendReach – This is what I currently use to manage my mailing lists along with Rapid Mailer below. They just rolled out Version 2 and they are proactively adding some real state-of-the-art functionality which many other services do not offer at this time. Because they are still rolling out these new features, you can get lifetime access for a one-time payment for a limited-time. That means potentially big savings on monthly fees.
GetResponse – If I were to use another e-mail marketing system this would be it. They have a 30-day free trial with a landing page creator, drag and drop e-mail designer, split testing functions, and a form builder.
Rapid Mailer – This is a WordPress plugin. Yes it is true. But it allows you to do anything e-mail related just like the above tools but from within WordPress. It has a higher set-up and learning curve but it has some advanced mailing list management functions and integrates into any website to lead capture system that you own. The main benefit with this is it is very cheap and once you get it working it can be an awesome tool.
Of the email marketing systems above, I use SendReach and Rapid Mailer. I did have problems with SendReach recently during their v2 upgrades but we are past that now. Prior to that they were flawless. I have not tested Rapid Mailer enough to know to what degree I want to use it in the long term, but it is looking good. Clickfunnels also offers a basic auto-responder system within its landing page / sales funnel / membership site building system (see below). I have also used Aweber, Constant Contact, and ACT none of which I would recommend for various reasons.
Building Sales Funnels / Landing Pages / Squeeze Pages
The important of having a sales funnel for any product or service cannot be underestimated. Even with this free site, I offer premium products and services as upgrades to save you time and money and to also help monetize this site. Some of these tools below are great for building and managing your sales and landing pages… and more!
Clickfunnels – This is by far the best sales funnel tool out there. It is an enterprise solution so it does have a higher cost, but that is relative considering its power, ease of use, and time savings. It also has a basic auto-responder system, can build membership portals for delivering online courses and products, and many other cool features. It integrates into any website, including Facebook, but is still young and growing and could have more varied template designs. I would without doubt recommend this over Lead Pages or any other similar solution. Watch my review videos here.
InstaBuilder 2.0 – This is a WordPress-based plugin that is the best WordPress tool that I know of. Its interface is easy to use and it has some seriously cool functionality. Its editor is also the best you will find for tweaking your templates. Its limitations lie in the quality of your hosting and with WordPress and sometimes does not play well with other plugins. It does require a membership plugin to create a membership site or access page (see section below). Watch my review videos here.
OptimizePress 2.0 – This has been the standard for creating WordPress sales pages, etc. for years. It is more costly overall than Instabuilder 2.0 but a lot of marketers love this. The editor is cumbersome but functional and it does have basic page locking functionality built into it for member only access pages. Being a WordPress plugin and theme it also suffers from limitations imposed by WordPress, plugin compatiblity issues, and the quality of your hosting.
InstaMember – This is a relatively simple to use WordPress membership plugin that is good for delivering products or online courses. It also as affiliate management and customer service functionality built into it which is very handy for its one-time cost.
Wishlist Member – This is the main WordPress membership plugin used by Internet Marketers. It is good and relatively easy to use. It is more costly than InstaMember and has better membership level management for more complex sites but also has less of the bells and whistles.
As mentioned above, under Sales Funnels / Landing Pages, Clickfunnels also has full membership capabilities. It is fully hosted, and therefore does not require WordPress, hosting, or anything else and has its own basic auto-responder and membership management. There are also many other free WordPress plugin options… S2 Member, Ultimate Member, etc. that could be used on your WordPress site but I have found personally did not like them for various reasons.
Currently, I use InstaMember which is actually running this website with a few other plugins to help. All the above options have some limitations. Unless you are needing a straight forward membership site that is delivering access to a downloadable product or a training program you may find yourself in trouble. I am developing my own Membership plugin for that reason. So that I can be very creative and flexible with my sites and monetize them more effectivley. Trust me when I say, I have tried many plugins and membership scripts and these ones are the best of the lot.
Odesk – A freelancer outsourcing website that I used religiously for many years. I found other sites to be more costly or having less options for finding the people that I was looking for. Now I go direct through my own network of contacts to avoid hiring headaches. Odesk did recently impose a $3 per hour minimum for hiring freelancers which to me makes Virtual Assistants in Philippines, India, or Bangladesh too expensive. Using a service like this is good because there are reviews (though be careful as many are unreliable), a way to get your money back if you are not satisfied, along with tools to track work and time.
Crucial Advantage – Through my company, I also provide full-time outsourced employees to my clients. Though not in a commercial capacity yet, if you want cheap labor and assitiance with your online business then check out the rates below.
- Virtual Assistants (Philippines) – Cost is USD $370.00 per person every 4 weeks (approx. $2.15 per hour). Tasks can include social media, office duties, basic graphics, website management, research, data entry, etc. All fully vetted!
- Programmers (India) – Cost is USD $800 – $1800 per person per calendar month (approx. $5.00 – $11.25 per hour depending on experience and programming skills required). WordPress / PHP based programmers will run you on the lower end of the scale at $800 – $1300. All fully vetted!
Terms and conditions do apply. If you are interested, please contact me directly via firstname.lastname@example.org with the words “Outsourcing Request” in the subject and I will get in touch with you about your needs, goals, and objectives.
Fiverr – Almost anything you need, whether it is video, graphics, social media marketing, SEO services, etc., etc., can be purchased here for $5 (usually more) from this outsourcing website. I have used it in the past successfully, but it can be difficult to get quality without paying more, and the reviews can be extremely unreliable. When you do find gold it can be great but it just depends on what services you need. If you are going for SEO, back-linking, social media type marketing services… be very careful. They can sometimes do more harm than good and do not expect any sales.
Find Offers to Promote
JVZoo – This is a great platform to find products to sell. It is Internet Marketing geared, so do not expect to find too many offers in other genres. Many products offered here I would not recommend anyone to buy. There are of course the exceptions, but this site can be a money pit, and a huge distraction, if you get on the lists of some of the vendors by buying their products. Aggressive marketing is an understatement and product misrepresentation is notorious. Average commissions are around 50%.
Clickbank – This is the grandfather of info marketing products and is the most famous. Their marketplace is full of e-books and other offers in almost any niche and is a great place to start looking for offers to supplement your business or to advertise on your sites. Commissions can be as high as 90% on some products.
OfferVault – If you’re looking for CPA (cost-per-action) offers, then there is no better resource to get you started. They are a directory of almost every offer under the sun. They also give information on which CPA networks offer the products and the payouts.
Munch Eye – Rolodex of upcoming Internet Marketing launches. Great resources if you are wanting to market internet marketing related products or services. It is high competition, and you are competing with marketing veterans… but if you watched my webinars from scratch I was able to compete in this space and make thousands of easy dollars doing so.
Commission Junction, Avangate, Link Share, etc… are some of many other sites offering affiliate offers for major online retailers, software vendors, etc. These are but a few worth checking out. Please note that you would be looking to be a publisher with them. They use different wording.
PLR (Private Label Content)
If you need a product of your own, and do not have the time to create it, or if you need a bonus to offer, then using Private Label Right content can be a potentially excellent choice.
With any PLR content, no matter how good it is, you should made it your own by changing it and adding your own personality to it. Remember… you are building a brand… a business, and what you put out onto the web directly reflects upon you.
You also do not always know how many other people have purchsed or are using the same PLR content that you have. You do not want to compete with them. PLR is most ideal as a way to find products to giveaway or to use as bonuses or incentives or a starting points for your own content depending on the source.
Search engines do not like duplicate content, and neither does Amazon, Udemy, or other sites so PLR cannot be used for Kindle publishing or for articles or website content unless you change it significantly and MAKE IT YOUR OWN!
Resell Rights Weekly – This is the BEST private label site out there. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It has tons of content in all niches added to it almost daily. Everything from video training courses, to e-books, to articles, to even niche websites, WordPress plugins, themes, etc. The quality varies from bad to absolutely amazing. But heed my warnings above.
All Private Label Content – High quality private label articles, e-books, and other packages are available from this site. This is a good resource as well to get you going in certain popular niches.
iWriter and iNeedArticles – Two inexpensive sites to get 100% unique articles written for you on whatever topic you need. You can pay more for higher quality if you want, or stay cheap and get lower quality to give you something to work with and get you started. Either way, you want to make sure to add your own personality to it. This can be a great way to get someone else to write you content based on your guidelines without having to worry about uniqueness.
SEO Tools and Services
In this category I use so many different tools and serviced mixed with a lot of manual work by my virtual assistants. What I do, and why, and what is necessary depends on a lot of factors… like the website, video, or content that I am trying to rank.
But be assured, I get everything on page one if I want too. So I know what I am talking about and have offered SEO services to clients in the past. Since I have many sites and businesses and some clients, I need to have automation tools to make my life easier.
So for me to make blanket recommendations is not easy without their being more context to it. So I am starting with a few different random tools that I use and I will add more here as time goes on.
SeoMOZ Tool Bar – Free toolbar that you can install into Firefox or Chrome. It helps tell you valuable information about websites including domain and page authority, etc.
Backlinks Indexer – Every link you have, whether it is from your website, or links pointing at your content (backlinks), must be indexed by the search engines to get recognized and found. Well this service does this for you, and also adds backlinks to your URL’s to further empower them. This will help boost your rankings and send more link juice (as it is called) to your content . I do use other services as well but this is my personal favorite and it does the job much better.
Spin Rewriter – An article or content spinner / re-writer. It is decently priced and very popular. It integrates with many 3rd party software solutions that use spintax for content sharing and syndication to build backlinks and create unique content. When re-posting content or sharing it to web 2.0 or other sites it is always recommended to use unique content. This tool provides a way to generate spun content quickly.
VidIQ – Great tool that integrates with Google Chrome to add awesome statistics to any YouTube video you browse too. It’s a great spy tool to check out what your completion is doing so you can get ideas on what is required to outrank them in YouTube and to get ore traffic to your videos. The free version is sufficient.
Social Spy Agent – The best re-targeting management tool there is. It manages your marketing campaigns with Facebook, Ad Roll, and Perfect Audience for all your re-targeting needs. This service helps you maximize your ad spend.
For PPC ads or Media Buys (buying ads on other websites), again I use many tools. They all serve different needs. I will be adding to this section over time. Again, what you use or need is dependent upon what you are doing and your specific needs. I do however use YouZign which is listed under Graphics to create my ads and other graphics if I am creating them myself. Watch my review video here.
Hosting and Domains
NameMesh – By far the world’s best tool to find available domain names for your business or brand. For niche sites or “money” sites (as they are also known), I recommend where possible to find expired domains with a good backlink profile and domain/page authority, rather than buying new domains. This will give you the edge in ranking over new domains that have no history or authority.
NameCheap – When registering domains for my sites I use NameCheap. They have coupons available each month for new domain registrations and they are excellently priced.
HostGator – I only ever used their shared reseller hosting services but they were reliable and everything worked. Reputable and great but I only recommend them for starting out or for smaller niche sites. You can always upgrade to their dedicated services but I tend to prefer LiquidWeb for those needs.
LiquidWeb – Most of my main brand websites are with LiquidWeb. I like their customer service and they have good pricing on dedicated servers.
Press Release Services
Press Releases are an awesome way to get rankings, drive traffic, and to build authority if used correctly. You can also offer Press Release submission as a service to other businesses or clients. Press releases are an effective marketing/SEO tool, but do not expect much more than that, which is plenty, but do not expect people to be knocking down your door for interviews or anything like. That is not the purpose of using them, though it can happen. For that you need a PR firm.
Mass Media SEO – The best “affordable” press release service available but only if you are going to submit regular press releases. A monthly fee allows you to send multiple press releases per month. Other regular services charge 5-10 times the amount per release.
SkyRanker – Professional service that is a little more expensive than Mass Media SEO but does not have the recurring payments. This might be a better option for most general users unless you have clients to are reselling this service for. both services are top notch and highly recommended.
Video Creation Tools
Camtasia – There are free alternatives for screen recording. But at the end of the day if you are going to record reviews, trainings, or anything on your computer you can’t beat Camtasia. It is an easy to use tool, has a great video editor, and you can upload videos direct to Screencast if you need to share them with other people. This is invaluable to use with outsourced employees to communicate and review work.
Explaindio – If you are wanting to do fun animated sales or explainer videos, especially for clients and offline businesses, nothing beats Explaindio. You can create animated videos and hand drawn doodle videos with ease. It comes with a large selection of slides and images for all types of videos, but you also get the option to subscribe for even more assets to work with each month. This software can also uses slides and animations from other software solutions such as VideoMaker FX and Easy Sketch Pro, making it literally the go to video creation suite. Watch my review videos here.
I have a document coming with lots of great video recording tools and software for doing any type of video production most of the items in that are for free. But the above tools rule and are the only tools I use.
YouZign – This has become my favorite tool for creating graphics for my websites, social media profiles, video slates, for banners and ads. Geared towards marketers it comes loaded with access to over 7500 images, thousands of icons, and also 100+ professionally designed templates that can be edited and used for e-book covers, flyers, business cards, info graphics, social channels and profiles, banners, and other marketing related content. It is simple to use and has replaced my need to mess around with Photoshop, Coral, or Paint Shop Pro. Watch my review video here.
Partnering with Zimmaron
At the moment I am open to review products or services and entertain offers about potential business partnerships. I am however very picky and it has to be something that has real world benefit and something that I can stand behind.
In this scenario, I would partner with you/your business, and I will help take you and your business to the next level. Payment would be a percentage of the revenues and profits generated.
For this program, I have no formal structure or set of terms, since everything depends on your situation, budget, and what it is you actually need from me. An e-mail with as many details possible related to your product or service with an explanation of what you are hoping I can provide you is all that is required to peak my interest.
Please contact me directly via email@example.com with the words “Partnering with Zimmaron” in the subject.
Coaching with Zimmaron
As for coaching. I am just too expensive to get a one on one with at the moment. The lowest price I would be willing to go at this time is $497 per hour. But a group coaching would be way more affordable for most people.
But since I do not offer these services at this time, there would need to be enough of a demand at any one time to justify offering a group coaching program.
In the future, I may offer these services again. The cost of group coaching depends on many factors but the size would be limited to a manageable number so that I can make sure you get exactly what you need and that no one gets left behind.
I am known to fire my coaching clients based on them not following through on tasks one too many times or for just wasting my time. I have no interest in working with people who are not serious in succeeding. To me this is not a game. It is my reputation and only action takers win.
To get on my waiting list, please contact me directly via firstname.lastname@example.org with the words “Coaching Client Request” in the subject.
If I get enough people requesting this I may offer a tailored program. People on my waiting list would get first preference.
